The Alf Museum is home to the holotype specimens for 18 different species. The collection’s historical strengths have been in fossil footprints – thus, we currently hold 13 ichnotypes, from birds, camels, bear-dogs, and even a spider. More recent work has emphasized bony elements, with several mammalian holotypes as well as a dinosaur. Although published holotype specimens are not normally loaned, they are available for study.
